An ocular surgery causes damage to the cells that makes the cornea transparent and therefore, the cornea opacifies.

  • Keratoconus (cone-shaped deformation of cornea)
  • Some inherited diseases of cornea
  • Scar tissue and neovascularization secondary to corneal infections (for example, Herpes keratitis)
  • Spots in cornea secondary to injury
  • Rejection of donor cornea and opacification following a cornea transplant
