- Keratoconus (cone-shaped deformation of cornea)
- Some inherited diseases of cornea
- Scar tissue and neovascularization secondary to corneal infections (for example, Herpes keratitis)
- Spots in cornea secondary to injury
- Rejection of donor cornea and opacification following a cornea transplant
